I probably should've written this update 12 days ago when we ceased being homeless. Needless to say we're grateful for a roof over our heads, even if one of the neighbors across the hall cooks very pungent southeast asian food. Vyda is slowly accumulating the things she needs to make her life easier and happier in Hawaii. The happier she is, the happier I am, if anyone out there with a wife can empathize with what I'm saying. Last week we got internet and basic cable so Arielle can watch 90 min. a day or so of PBS kids to give Vyda a much-deserved rest. Besides that, the t.v. won't be on in our home unless I find a way to get the Japanese NHK channel so all my hard work in Japanese this past year isn't for naught. Today Vyda also got a stroller. Later on we're going to buy some more futons so Ryosei can play by himself sometimes in his room without us constantly having to be within arms length, for fear he'll bang his head on a basically cement floor. Vyda still hasn't been able to secure a clunker we can drive around for 8 months but that's at the top of her list. We haven't had a car for four years so I'm really happy Vyda can finally enjoy what most people now days have no idea what it's like to live without. I got an almost $5500 stipend from my program this week which was a nice surprise, to say the least.
I better stop procrastinating my homework. Just wanted to chime in before someone thought we fell off the face off the earth--not that anyone reading this still believes the earth is flat or anything...............
